Ray-Ban Eyewear
The original American sunglasses icon, born to protect pilots.
Brand History
The Story of Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban was created in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb to protect U.S. Army Air Corps pilots from glare at high altitude — the name literally means 'banning rays.' The Aviator, developed for that original purpose, remains one of the most recognizable sunglasses shapes ever made.
Ray-Ban later introduced the Wayfarer and became a genuine pop-culture icon, worn across decades of film and music. It remains the benchmark for classic American sunglasses styling.
